New School Health Advisory Council Filing Cabinet

Texas School Procedures has just developed a new comprehensive SHAC Folder. Did you know that SHAC and the District are now required to have two (2) public meetings? See our Overview to find out why.

If you are starting, revising, or maintaining a District SHAC, check out TxSP sections that include:

  1. SHAC Overview
  2.  By-Laws
  3. Duties and Responsibilities
  4. Meetings
  5. Membership
  6. Wellness Health Plan
BTW – While you are in the District Committees folder, review our new “District Educational Improvement Committee” Information.

New Artificial Intelligence Filing Cabinet

TxSP has done extensive research on the fast-paced development of AI programs, including chatbots like ChatGPT. We have had several districts reach out to us for guidance. TxSP, after the research, believes that districts will need to develop their specific plans in determining whether to ban its use, limit its use, allow it for teachers only, or allow it for teachers and students. Some districts will take the plunge while others will block use for this year as they begin to develop a plan.

TxSP hopes that the filtering, clustering, and narrowing of information from the research will help provide our subscribing districts with some critical information and guidance to begin that path. Additionally, we have included links in the protocol for great resources as well as a resource for teachers exploring the use of AI and ChatGPT in their classrooms – for themselves and their students.

For more information, see our protocol and 5 resource documents under For C&I – Artificial Intelligence.

Meet Michelle Capener

Hello!  My name is Michelle Capener and I am a Consultant/Accounts Manager for Texas School Procedures.  Prior to joining the company, I used TxSP in my former school district and found it to be an incredibly valuable resource.  Building upon my previous firsthand experience with the website, one of my primary responsibilities is to show districts what TxSP has to offer as well as to assist subscribers in maximizing the benefits of their subscription.

With seven sections containing over 2500 documents, it is imperative that the TxSP website be shared with all staff who will benefit.  This includes principals, counselors, nurses, Central Office staff, Human Resources, Student Support (i.e. 504, Sped, GT, MTSS, DAEP, etc.), as well as those responsible for Staff Training.  Our complimentary onboarding and refresher sessions for subscribers provide an overview of the site, highlight various features and navigational tools, as well as include implementation suggestions.

For current TxSP Subscribers: Please contact me at mcapener@txschoolprocedures.com to schedule an onboarding or refresher session.

For those who are not yet subscribers of Texas School Procedures but would like to learn more, please complete this form to schedule a virtual demonstration of the website.
